Bernoulli's Principle teaches that:
Any increase in the velocity of a gas or liquid results in a decrease in pressure.
That means that if you create an air current by waving your hands
you are causing the pressure to decrease where the air moves faster.
This movement causes the balloon to move into the low pressure area.
Bernoulli's Principle of reducing pressure to cause an object to move into the low pressure area is the same one that causes airplanes to lift. Because their wings are rounded on top the air above the wing moves faster than the air under the wing. The increase in speed or velocity causes a reduction in pressure above the wing. The object (wing) moves into the lower pressure area and in doing so lifts the airplane.
