HELIUM IS AVAILABLE AT THOUSANDS OF STORES
Helium comes in light-weight cannisters and can be purchased at many major store chanis. It's packaged by Balloon Time. It comes with balloons. It's designed especially for balloons and works great. As you see here, it's not very big, but does 30 balloons.

Prices for a 30-balloon tank are around $20, frequently less.
PARTY SUPPLY STORES
Most stores which sell helium balloons will fill balloons of customers, even if you bring in the balloons. Sometimes they charge 30 or 50 cents, sometimes they do it for free. Make sure they put in enough helium to lift the gondola.
PRE-FILLED HELIUM BALLOONS
Many party stores, and even major discount stores with party supply departments, sell helium balloons in many shapes and sizes. They can be used with the gondolas, but care must be taken to get enough helium in the balloon.
18" round mylar/foil balloons, the typical party store variety, will lift the gondola ONLY if they are over-filled slightly. Bursting balloons at the fill tanks are rarely an issue but store clerks worry about it.
BOTTLED HELIUM
Helium for balloons can be procured at numerous locations which sell bottled gas. Look in your phone directory under Helium or welding supplies. Their bottles have more gas than the Balloon Time canisters. If they are returned after a few days there is typically no rental on the container.
